Supporting Alex’s Wish: Making a Real Difference Together

Supporting Alex’s Wish

At Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd, we believe that engineering strong communities goes beyond the projects we deliver. It is also about supporting causes that make a genuine, lasting difference in people’s lives. One charity close to our hearts is Alex’s Wish.

Our Support So Far

Danaher & Walsh has donated £900 to Alex’s Wish in the last financial year through our membership of their ‘Your Business Community’, this funding has supported several important initiatives to improve the lives of those affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Our contribution has gone towards helping them to achieve the following:

  • £200,000 invested in a new Innovative Medical Grant Call, helping to fund vital medical research. This investment supports the search for potential life-saving treatments for the 2,500 boys living with Duchenne in the UK.
  • £50,000 allocated to a project focused on addressing the unmet care needs of adults living with Duchenne, ensuring continued support beyond childhood.
  • £30,000 supporting a project designed to improve patient care and wellbeing during the transition from childhood to adult healthcare services.

Why This Charity Matters

Alex’s Wish works tirelessly to fund research, provide support, and improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne is a severe and progressive muscle-wasting condition that primarily affects boys, and currently, there is no cure.

The charity’s work helps to bridge the gap between medical research, patient care, and practical support for families navigating the challenges of living with the condition. By investing in research and community support programmes, Alex’s Wish is helping to create hope for the future while improving lives today.

At Danaher & Walsh, we are proud to play a small part in supporting such an impactful organisation. The work they carry out aligns closely with our values of community, responsibility, and making a positive difference.
