Social Value Case Study
Danaher & Walsh has committed to Social Value, which we call ‘Engineered for Good’. We focus on the ten areas we believe we can make the biggest and best impact in the communities in which we work.
Our Commitment to Social Value
As part of our commitment, Danaher & Walsh recently visited Great Steeping Primary School, Lincolnshire to deliver an interactive afternoon of learning and inspiration for the school’s top class.
Team members Greg Crawley, Keelan Guerin, and Danny Ellis joined pupils for a two-hour hands-on session that aimed to raise awareness of the work delivered by Anglian Water and its partners, while also sparking interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers.
What We Delivered
The session was developed as a follow-on from our participation in Construction Week at Lincolnshire Showground and was designed to support the school’s focus on STEM education and career exploration.
Key activities included:
- A quiz themed around water and construction to engage and inform.
- A team challenge that involved guiding a water bottle along a course, encouraging teamwork and spatial awareness.
- A demonstration on gravity sewers and how water systems function.
- The opportunity for pupils to try on real PPE.
A Positive Impact
The pupils were highly engaged throughout, asking insightful questions and enthusiastically participating in each activity.
The session gave them not only a glimpse into the work of Anglian Water and its supply chain, but also helped build early awareness of civil engineering and utilities as rewarding career paths.
We are extremely grateful to Mr Deighton and the staff at Great Steeping Primary for welcoming us into the classroom. We hope our visit will leave a lasting impression and inspire young people to consider engineering in their future studies.
Teacher Feedback
