Social Value Case Study
Danaher & Walsh has committed to Social Value, which we call ‘Engineered for Good’. We focus on the ten areas we believe we can make the biggest and best impact in the communities in which we work.
This case study is an example of our commitment to inspiring the next generation and how it was achieved.
Inspiring the Next Generation through Careers Events
As part of this work, colleagues Jo and Mason recently attended a careers event at St Mary’s School, where they conducted mock interviews with Year 10 students. Their participation formed part of a wider programme involving 15 local organisations, aiming to equip young people with critical employability skills.
Collaborating with the Local Community
Beyond supporting students, the event was also an opportunity for Danaher & Walsh to connect with other local businesses and employers, strengthening relationships and reinforcing the shared goal of inspiring young talent into the industry.
By taking part in initiatives like this, we aim to:
- Champion social value through real, tangible actions
- Raise awareness of career opportunities in civil engineering
- Build confidence and skills among students
- Support schools and teachers in delivering meaningful employer engagement
Hands-On Support for Future Careers
During the day, Jo and Mason interviewed nine students each, contributing to a total of around 140 mock interviews completed by the business community. The session helped students prepare for the world of work by offering practical experience, feedback, and encouragement.
As Jo reflected:
“I am very impressed with the students and how they presented themselves in the interviews, as well as how professional they came across. I hope we gave them some useful tips that they can apply to future interviews.”
