Social Value Case Study
Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering delivered a Forest School social value project at The Mease Spencer Academy, creating a dedicated outdoor learning area for pupils.
The project supported the school’s Forest School after-school club and was delivered as part of the wider BSIP – Bus Stop Improvement Programme, which is being carried out in Hatton, Hilton and Etwall for Derbyshire County Council and EMCCA, the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
Creating an Outdoor Learning Space
The initiative included the construction of a fire pit area, new stone and bark pathways, log seating and outdoor learning resources.
Danaher & Walsh also donated children’s safety equipment, tools and gardening resources to support future Forest School activities.
In addition, Greg Long Tree Care kindly donated large logs for seating, helping to create a practical and natural outdoor space for pupils.
Supporting Learning, Wellbeing and Community
The completed Forest School area gives pupils a valuable outdoor space for learning, wellbeing and personal development.
As a result, children can now develop practical skills, build confidence and spend more time engaging with nature.
The project also strengthened community partnerships. Through support from Danaher & Walsh, The Mease Spencer Academy and Greg Long Tree Care, the school now has a lasting outdoor learning resource for pupils to enjoy for years to come.
