Social Value Case Study
Enhancing Communities: St Oswald’s School Gates, Ashbourne
Danaher & Walsh is committed to Social Value, which we call ‘Engineered for Good’. We focus on the ten areas where we can make the biggest and best impact in the communities in which we work.
This case study exemplifies our commitment to enhancing the communities.
Supporting Safer Learning Environments Through Civil Engineering
At Danaher & Walsh, we don’t just deliver large-scale infrastructure; we also take pride in supporting local initiatives that make a meaningful difference.
A recent project at St Oswald’s School in Ashbourne highlights how thoughtful, small-scale improvements can contribute to safer and more enjoyable community spaces.
Scope of Works
Our team supported the school by:
- Measuring and ordering two bespoke wooden gates to suit the specific layout and safety needs of the playground.
- Installing the gates with precision and care, ensuring all edges, hinges, and fixings were safe for daily use.
- Creating a secure, hazard-free boundary that complements the existing fencing and maintains visibility for staff supervision.
Delivering Accessibility and Social Value
The new gates provide the school with a safe and practical solution for managing playground areas while maintaining an open, welcoming environment for pupils.
This project not only improved site safety but also demonstrated our commitment to enhancing local learning environments, contributing towards our 20% social value target and reinforcing our belief that even small projects can have a lasting positive impact on the communities we serve.
