Social Value Case Study
Danaher & Walsh is committed to Social Value, which we call ‘Engineered for Good’. We focus on the ten areas where we can have the biggest and best impact in the communities where we work.
This case study exemplifies our commitment to enhancing the communities.
Enhancing Community Spaces in Mansfield
At Danaher & Walsh, we’re committed to delivering more than just engineering excellence; we aim to create lasting community benefit through every project we deliver.
Through the Procure Partnerships Framework, Mansfield District Council asked us to provide a price for refurbishing three bridges across various parks to enhance the local environment.
The council’s budget allowed for two bridges only. To improve the whole area, Danaher & Walsh refurbished a third bridge at our own expense.
We maintained clear communication with residents and park users throughout. Feedback was very positive, with appreciation for both the improvements and our site team’s approach. Works were delivered with minimal disruption, keeping the parks open and accessible.
Scope of Works
Our team refurbished three bridges in Mansfield. Works included cleaning, preparation and repainting to extend lifespan and improve appearance. We also refurbished one bridge in Titchfield Park at our own cost to match the others.
Social Value Impact
While cleaning planters, we found evidence of former bench locations in Manor Park, Mansfield Woodhouse. Recognising their value, we reinstated the benches at our own expense.
These enhancements have restored a space for residents and visitors to enjoy. The project shows how small actions can deliver lasting community benefit. It reflects our Engineered for Good approach.
