How did we do?

Works were undertaken in carefully planned phases, using traffic and pedestrian management to allow the progression of the works whilst minimise disruption to the public. The Urban 64 temporary traffic signal and control system was used on this scheme to optimise traffic flows.

Again, owing to the scheme’s location, in Leicester’s city centre and surrounded by numerous retail and entertainment premises, stakeholder liaison was absolutely critical to the success of this scheme.

Regular liaison was required with the numerous business premises located immediately adjacent to the works. As well as advising the proprietors of the nature and timescales of the works, in many cases it was practically necessary to coordinate with them for the works to be undertaken directly outside of their premises with absolutely minimal disruptions to business operations.

Initial letter drops informed the premises owners / proprietors about the works and provided contact details. Face-to-face visits were subsequently carried out by our Site Agent on a regular basis to facilitate constructive discussion regarding the works.

Our Site Agent worked closely with Leicester City Council Highways to coordinate traffic management and ensure minimal disruption to highway users and the general public.

Close liaison was also necessary with the wider Morgan Sindall contract team responsible for the construction of the new bus station, which was occurring at the same time as our works. Cooperation and coordination ensured that we did not impact on their works nor vice versa.
