Soar Lane Bridge Renovation, Leicestershire
Danaher & Walsh was appointed by Keepmoat Homes Ltd on behalf of Leicester City Council to execute critical renovations on the Soar Lane Bridge.
This heritage structure extends over the Canal Section of the River Soar (Grand Union Canal) in Leicester and forms a vital part of the area’s infrastructure improvement initiative.
Project Overview
Our team played a pivotal role in the heritage bridge renovation by implementing strategic solutions to strengthen and upgrade the bridge’s structural integrity. This included reinforcing the existing bridge deck to support increased load capacity while simultaneously narrowing the carriageway. These modifications enabled the expansion of pedestrian and cyclist paths, significantly improving access to the city centre.
Additionally, we collaborated closely with regulatory bodies, securing essential permits from the Environment Agency (EA) and the Canal & River Trust (CRT). Using
Innovative construction phasing, developed jointly with Leicester City Council and Keepmoat, ensured that the project proceeded with little effect on the public
and surrounding properties.
