Gravity Overland Sewer Main needed replacing from the Chamber to the Discharge.
Danaher & Walsh Advanced Pipeline Solutions is on a long-term framework for Anglian Water as part of the IMR WR Alliance.
This ambitious project involved the replacement of approximately 110 metres of 300mm ductile iron sewer main,
The Brief
At Danaher & Walsh, the project involved replacing approximately 110 metres of a 300mm ductile iron sewer main, extending from an inspection chamber to the discharge point at a treatment works. Before work could begin, the overgrown field had to be cleared and levelled to allow for a proper survey of the existing pipework.
Given the proximity of overhead cables, a GS6 survey was required, incorporating flagpoles, exclusion zones, and warning signage for safety.
The Outcome
Danaher & Walsh successfully delivered the scheme, with the full 110 metres of 300mm ductile iron pipeline installed and connected. Both tie-in points at the inspection chamber and treatment works were managed effectively despite operational constraints. The rebuilt chamber and discharge point met functional requirements, and the new system was brought online without issue. The access ramp was reconstructed to the required specification, satisfying landowner needs while protecting the infrastructure below.
Several challenges were overcome throughout the project. Despite these obstacles, the team demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and a strong willingness to learn on the job. Their dedication to overcoming unfamiliar challenges played a key role in the successful delivery of this complex scheme.
‘I think a huge thank you and ultimately well done to the team and support staff involved in this scheme, it has not been easy but has been enjoyable, and I believe we would all agree the finished product looks outstanding from the guys.’
