Emergency Foul Sewer Rehabilitation, Spalding
Project Overview
Danaher & Walsh Pipeline Solutions delivered an emergency foul sewer rehabilitation on London Road in Spalding following a critical structural failure within the network. The collapse forced the local pumping station to be taken offline, requiring continuous tankering to manage flows and prevent the risk of environmental pollution.
Working under challenging ground conditions and within a busy town centre location, the team implemented a trenchless repair solution to minimise disruption and avoid deep excavation. Using precision robotic cutting equipment, a significant concrete obstruction was removed from the pipe before installing a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) patch repair to restore the structural integrity of the sewer.
The works were carried out overnight to maintain access along this key route into Spalding, allowing the network to be safely reinstated and the pumping station returned to operation quickly and efficiently.
Outcomes
The works enabled the pumping station to be safely brought back online following completion of the repair, with a post-repair CCTV survey confirming the restored structural integrity of the sewer. The rapid intervention removed the immediate risk of foul flooding and groundwater contamination, protecting the surrounding environment.
By using a trenchless repair method, the team avoided deep excavation and was able to remove the need for costly 24-hour tankering operations sooner than anticipated. Night-time working and robotic repair technology also ensured that London Road remained open and fully operational during peak hours, minimising disruption while delivering a durable long-term solution for the client.
