Brancaster Tidal Infiltration Scheme, Brancaster
Project Overview
Danaher & Walsh were appointed to seal the foul sewer network in Brancaster to prevent groundwater infiltration and protect the performance of the village’s localised pumping stations.
The scope comprised 670 metres of 150mm CIPP lining, reinforcement of 18 lateral connections using patch liners, and the sealing of four manhole lids.
Outcomes
The project was completed successfully within the one-month programme, with no defective repairs and no disruption from tidal events. The works were planned and executed with precision, demonstrating Danaher & Walsh’s capability in complex coastal environments.
As a result of the intervention, groundwater infiltration within the Brancaster network has been significantly reduced, enabling pump stations to operate efficiently by pumping foul waste only. This has substantially lowered the risk of mechanical failure and environmental pollution. The community will also benefit from a visible reduction in tanker movements through the village’s narrow roads, improving safety and reducing disruption.
The scheme was praised by the IMR Alliance as the first tidal infiltration project completed within the alliance, establishing a benchmark for future delivery
