The design-and-build project improved access and traffic circulation across the site. It also created a more efficient environment for passengers, public transport operators and airport users.
Birmingham Airport infrastructure improvements for arrivals and departures
The scheme included upgrades to the short stay car park, new bus stops and a covered pedestrian walkway. Drainage improvements, resurfacing works, street lighting, traffic signage and road markings also formed part of the works. Together, these improvements created a more efficient and user-friendly arrivals and departures environment for everyone using the airport.
Outcomes
The completed Birmingham Airport infrastructure improvements enhanced transport access for passengers, public transport services and private vehicles. Upgraded pedestrian facilities and improved traffic management measures combined to deliver a safer, more efficient arrivals and departures experience. Importantly, the airport continued to operate normally throughout construction
