No-dig sewer repair adjacent to an electric sub station
Innovative ‘No-dig’ sewer repair in area with multiple services.
Project Overview
Danaher & Walsh Advanced Pipeline Solutions is on a long-term framework for Anglian Water, along with several other companies that make up the IMR WR Alliance.
This particular job was so complex that Anglian Water asked our ‘no-dig’ team to find a trenchless solution to this challenging repair.
The Challenge
The lateral had collapsed where it met the mainline sewer at a depth of 6m. The area was ridden with services as it was in a highly residential area and right next to an electrical substation which would have made a traditional dig repair virtually impossible – it would certainly have been dangerous and would have entailed long-road closures for the residents.
Danaher & Walsh solution to complicated sewer collapse
The Danaher & Walsh no-dig solution was to cut out a new connection for the lateral to come into and to put a patch into the main line – thus avoiding having to interfere with the collapse in the mainline and creating a new fully-sealed junction instead.
A no-dig solution meant that the job could be completed quickly and safely.
Outcomes
Utilising our innovative ‘no-dig’ technology, we were able to access the pipes, widen the area where the previous repair had taken place, cut out the patch, introduce a liner and make the new junction fully secure at 6 inches.
The time taken to complete this repair was just one week and avoided the massive health and safety issues that a more traditional dig method would have incurred.
The client was delighted with the results.
