Danaher & Walsh Wins Mental Health Supporter Engagement Award
Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering is delighted to have won the Mental Health Supporter Engagement Award from Mates in Mind.
Mates in Mind is a charity that supports mental health and wellbeing across the construction industry. This recognition celebrates the speed and efficiency with which
Danaher & Walsh introduced its Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Following a Situation Audit carried out by Mates in Mind in October 2023, the company moved quickly to put practical support in place.
Recognising Mental Health Support in Construction
This award highlights the progress Danaher & Walsh has made in supporting mental health and wellbeing at work.
Across the business, the company has introduced a clear framework to support employees. As a result, teams now have access to more wellbeing support, guidance and signposting. Importantly, this work also helps keep mental health conversations visible in a sector where support is vital.
Joanne Pigram Collects the Award
Joanne Pigram, Mental Health First Aider and Wellbeing Lead at Danaher & Walsh, collected the award at a ceremony in London on 7 June 2024.
Joanne said:
“We are absolutely delighted to win this award. Thank you for recognising how hard we have worked to get so much in place so quickly. I think the other really important thing to say is that size is not an obstacle to success as far as mental health and wellbeing is concerned. Danaher & Walsh is a medium-sized company. We only have around 100 people, but we have still managed to put a framework in place to support our team in what we know is a vulnerable industry. There is always more we can do though.”
Supporting Workplace Wellbeing
Following the award, Joanne was invited to speak at the Make A Difference Construction Summit in October. The event focuses on mental health in the construction workplace. Therefore, it gives Danaher & Walsh another opportunity to share its approach and support wider conversations across the industry.
In addition, the invitation reflects the progress made by the Wellbeing Team since the Mates in Mind audit.
Continuing the Conversation
Danaher & Walsh is proud to receive this recognition from Mates in Mind.
However, the company also recognises that mental health and wellbeing support must continue to develop. For that reason, the award marks an important milestone rather than a finishing point. By continuing to talk, listen and improve, Danaher & Walsh will keep supporting employees and promoting positive mental health across the business.
Support Is Available
Whatever you are going through, support is available. Talking to someone can be an important first step. If you feel a chat might help, please reach out to someone you trust or use the support resources available to you.
