Danaher & Walsh Brings Construction to Life for Lincolnshire Students

Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering joined Anglian Water at Construction and Engineering Week 2025 to help inspire Lincolnshire students and promote careers in construction.

The event took place at the Lincolnshire Showground. It was hosted by the Lincoln Group Training Association and welcomed around 1,500 students from across the region.

Nearly 80 organisations attended the event. Together, they showcased the wide range of career opportunities available across construction, engineering and infrastructure.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Danaher & Walsh and Anglian Water worked together to give students a practical insight into the industry.

Throughout the event, the team delivered a range of hands-on activities. These activities helped students understand how construction skills apply to real projects.

The aim was simple. We wanted to show young people that construction offers varied, rewarding and practical career pathways.

Hands-On Learning in Action

Students took part in several interactive challenges during the event.

Activities included:

  • Wheelbarrow races
  • Pipe assembly games
  • A PPE relay
  • Construction quizzes
  • Practical demonstrations

These activities helped bring everyday engineering tasks to life. They also encouraged students to think about teamwork, problem-solving and safety.

For many students, the highlight was the chance to sit inside a real digger. They also explored the Danaher & Walsh tools van, which gave them a closer look at equipment used on live construction sites.

Connecting Classroom Learning to Real Construction

The response from students and teachers was very positive.

Many commented on how useful it was to connect classroom learning with real-world engineering. As a result, the event helped students see construction more practically and engagingly.

Events like this play an important role in changing perceptions of the industry. Construction is not just about hard hats and high-vis. It also involves planning, creativity, technology, communication and teamwork.

Encouraging Future Construction Careers

Safeguarding rules meant that photographs of students could not be taken. However, the energy and enthusiasm throughout the day showed the impact of the event.

Students asked questions, joined in with activities and explored different career options. This helped them picture themselves as part of the construction and engineering industry in the future.

Supporting Skills and Career Development

Danaher & Walsh remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote skills, learning and career development.

By working with Anglian Water and taking part in events such as Construction and Engineering Week, we can help young people understand the opportunities available in our industry.

We are proud to support activities that help build both future infrastructure and the next generation of construction talent.
