Danaher & Walsh Team Wins Anglian Water Supplier Award
Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering is proud to celebrate success at the Anglian Water Supplier Award ceremony. Anglian Water sets high standards for its suppliers and partners. Therefore, the annual awards recognise teams that deliver excellent performance, innovation and value. This year, the no-dig pipelining team within the Integrated Maintenance and Repair Water Recycling Alliance received the 2024 award for Best New Way of Working.
Working as Part of the IMR WRA
Danaher & Walsh is a key partner in the Integrated Maintenance and Repair Water Recycling Alliance, also known as IMR WRA. The alliance delivers sustainable solutions on behalf of Anglian Water. It includes Anglian Water, Clancy, Claret Civil Engineering, Public Sewer Services and Danaher & Walsh. Together, the alliance manages planned and emergency works across the Anglian Water region. This includes sewer repairs, rising mains, SMART technology installation, maintenance and repair.
Recognised for a New Way of Working
The award recognised the successful removal of two inline interceptors in Cambridge. The works took place beneath two separate three-storey residential buildings. As a result, the team had to manage a complex urban setting with limited access and occupied properties above the work area. The no-dig pipelining team used an innovative repair method to complete the works safely and efficiently.
Delivering No-Dig Pipeline Repairs
The no-dig pipelining team specialises in repairs that avoid the risks, disruption and cost linked to open excavation. For this scheme, the team used a method that had already been tested and trialled on other projects. However, this was the first time the approach had been used in full during live repairs of this type. The successful delivery showed the value of trenchless technology in challenging locations.
Reducing Disruption, Cost and Risk
The project brought clear benefits for residents, businesses and the client. By using a no-dig method, the team reduced disruption in a busy Cambridge location. It also helped keep costs down for Anglian Water. In addition, the approach reduced health and safety risks by avoiding more invasive excavation works beneath occupied buildings.
Supporting Innovation in Water Recycling
This award highlights the team’s commitment to innovation, safe delivery and practical engineering solutions. It also marks an important step forward in removal methods for this type of infrastructure repair. Danaher & Walsh is proud to support the IMR WRA and Anglian Water through new ways of working that improve outcomes for customers, communities and the wider
water recycling network.
