Danaher & Walsh Inspire Future Talent at National Construction Week

Danaher & Walsh Civil Engineering proudly supported National Construction Week in collaboration with Anglian Water. The event took place at Lincolnshire Showground from Tuesday 24 September to Thursday 26 September. It brought together more than 1,500 young people for a hands-on careers day focused on construction and engineering.

Inspiring Young People

The Lincoln Group Training Association hosted the event. Nearly 80 companies from construction and related trades took part. Together, they showcased the wide range of career routes available across the sector. Danaher & Walsh attended alongside Anglian Water to help young people learn more about civil engineering, utilities and pipeline works.

Hands-On Construction Activities

As we represented our client, Anglian Water, we highlighted our expertise through our Advanced Pipeline Solutions division. Our team delivered interactive activities to give students a practical insight into the sector.

These included:

  • A pipeline simulation using balls to represent water
  • A teamwork challenge using ropes to move a tin along a virtual pipe
  • A PPE challenge, combining a quiz with a race to put on safety gear

Each activity helped bring civil engineering tasks to life. They also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and an understanding of site safety.

Showcasing Careers in Civil Engineering

The enthusiasm from the young people was fantastic to see. Throughout the event, students engaged with the activities and asked questions about the industry. As a result, many gained a better understanding of what a career in construction could look like. Events like this play an important role in inspiring future talent. They also help show that civil engineering offers practical, varied and rewarding career opportunities.

Supporting the Next Generation

Danaher & Walsh is proud to support initiatives that introduce young people to construction and engineering. By working with Anglian Water and taking part in National Construction Week, we can help raise awareness of the skills, roles and opportunities within our industry. Due to safeguarding, we could not take photographs of the children taking part. However, the level of energy, interest and excitement throughout the event spoke for itself.
